The cake is a birthday cake that Naarah baked for Gideon's birthday in CatGhost 1 Birthday (although he claims his birthday is not on that day).
Description[]
The cake appears to be a multi-layered gray cake with blue pearls and two candles on top forming the number 48. The cake is leaning heavily to one side, and, as Elon remarks, looks "like it has seen better days"[1].
Appearances[]
The cake first appears in CatGhost 1 before Elon, Naarah and Gideon go to Party Country. Naarah and Elon discuss how difficult it is to bake a cake without hands.
The cake is shown again at the end of the episode when Gideon sees it as evidence that being sucked into the game "wasn't a dream"[1]. Whether it was eaten is unknown.
The cake (or one identical to it) appears in CatGhost 8 Judgement. When someone asks "what is libation?" Naarah and Elon gag in response, but Gideon is shown eating the cake and says he doesn't know what the big deal is. Notably, this cake's candles read '49' rather than '48'.
The cake appears in the Libation ending of Leak. Elon and Naarah are seen ragged, eating the cake while a group of mysterious figures surround them.
Significance[]
When asked about the cake, Key will explain that it is "a test"[2].
The cake can also seen in Joke, where it is revealed when the word "libation" is knocked at the door.
In the Post Series Talk video with NightMind, the cake is confirmed to be a Witch Cake.
Trivia[]
- A libation is a ritual pouring of a liquid or grains, as an offering to a god or spirit, or in memory of those who have "passed on".[3][4][5]
